Serenity Centre (SC) is a treatment and rehabilitation facility for individuals affected by alcohol and substance abuse, guided by gospel values. It provides inclusive holistic (bio psychosocial-spiritual) approach to treatment that is not discriminatory towards religion, race, and gender in Uganda and beyond. It envisions "A World Free From Substance Use Effects".
The Centre evolved from different initiatives resulting from the pastoral work of the founding congregations in Uganda: (Mill Hill Missionaries; Missionaries of Africa; the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and Congregation of Holy Cross). This was a result of the necessity to respond to the challenge of alcoholism and substance abuse affecting many individuals, families, the clergy, religious and a whole lot of people.
The idea of offering professional assistance was blessed by the Episcopal Conference and established on 21st August 2001 (over 22 years ago) as the Pioneer and a Catholic founded not-for-profit non-governmental organization.
